📜 Sthala Puranam: The Golden Offering and Divine Wealth
The Golden Temple (Thiru Sempon Sei)
• Sempon Sei: The name translates to Sempon (Pure Gold) and Sei (Made of/Built).
• Lord Rama’s Penance: After defeating the Demon Ravana, Lord Rama stayed at Sage Dhrudhanethrar’s hermitage. To atone for the sin of Brahmahatthi Dhosham (sin incurred by killing a Brahmin, as Ravana was one), Lord Rama consecrated a Golden Cow, performed penance inside it for four days, and then donated the Golden Cow to raise the funds necessary for building this temple.
• The Builder: Since the construction relied on funds from this divine golden donation, the Almighty is credited with funding His own temple.
The Boon for Wealth and Prosperity
• Kashyapar’s Son: A poor Brahmin’s son named Mukundhan came here from Kancheepuram. A sage advised him to chant the Ashtakshara Manthram before Perarulaalan.
• Divine Treasure: Mukundhan chanted the mantra 33,000 times in just three days. Delighted, the Almighty guided him to a hidden treasure full of Gold and blessed him with great wealth.
• Blessings: The temple is a powerful place to worship Perarulaalan to get financial progress, good jobs, and relief from poverty and debts.
Uraiyur Connection
• Sempon Arangar: The Utsavar, Semponnarangan (Arangar made of Gold), is said to have originated from Uraiyur, resulting in the Moolavar blessing devotees with two Goddesses, similar to the form of Azhagiya Manavaalan of Uraiyur Divya Desam.
🔱 Temple Deities & Details
