The Assembly of Devas (Thevanar Thogai)
• The Name: The name Thiruthevanarthogai is derived from two Tamil words: Thevanar (Celestials/Devas) and Thogai (Group/Assembly).
• The Wedding: After Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the churning of the Milky Ocean, Lord Narayana married Her here. The Devas assembled as a group to witness and worship the divine couple in their magnificent marriage attire, hence the name.
Blessings for Marriage and Progeny
• The Lord, blessing here in His eternal wedding form, is considered equal to the Nithya Kalyana Perumal of Thiruvidanthai (one of the Thondainadu Divya Desams).
• Special Boon: Worshipping here is believed to swiftly grant marriage to unmarried individuals and bless childless couples with progeny.
Vashista Maharishi’s Darshan
• The Lord gave Prathyaksham (divine vision) to Vashista Maharishi, the preeminent sage (Vashister means “Best Rishi among all others”) and the mind-born son of Lord Brahma. The Lord appeared as a young, newly married couple for the Rishi.
