Thirumarukal Rathinagrisuvar Temple is the 80th Shiva shrine on the south bank of the Cauvery to receive the Thevara song. This temple, where Sambandar and Upper sang, is located in the Nagapattinam district. It is believed that Sambandar resurrected the person who died after being bitten by a snake. In this temple, Lord Manikkavannar and Goddess Vanduvar Kughali. There is a pond in front of the temple. There is a flag tree with the flag tree Ganesha next to the royal tower. To the right of the Moolavar Ratnagrishwarar Sanctuary is the Somaskandar Sanctuary. To the right of the entrance of the Moolavar Sannathi are Saneeswarar, Ursava Ganesha, and to the left are Chettipen and Chettipillai.

In Tiruchutru, there are Chettipen, Chettipillai wedding hall, Byravar, Chandran, Sun, Navagraha, Nagar, Chettipen, Chettipillai, Sambandar, Chandikeswarar shrines, next Natarajar shrine and Vanduvarkuzhali (Amotalanayaki) shrine. The Yamuna Chandikeswari Shrine is located in the Amman Shrine’s Tiruchutru. The Moolavar Koshta includes Ganapati, Datsinamoorthy, Annamalaiyar, Brahma and Durga. Outside are Shasta, Brahmi, Maheswari, Gaumari, Vaishnavi, Waraki, Mahendri, Chamundi, Suram Durta Ganesha, Santhana Ganesha. The Maruthavudaiyar-Savundaranayaki shrine is also in the circuit. In front of it are the Nandi altar, the Yakasalai, the Parasharar worshipped lingam, and the Kasi Viswanathar.

The Thirumarukal Temple is one of the temples built by Kochengatcholan where the elephant could not climb. Marukal refers to a type of stone-banana tree. The place got the name “Thirumarukal” as this is a sthala tree. The main entrance is the 68 feet high tower on the east side. Outside the temple,  The temple’s Theertham called Manika Theertham with a fountain hall in front of the temple. On the banks of the Tirtha, we can see the Pearl Ganesha Sannidhi. There is a small tower on the south side. The temple has walls on 4 sides and has two prakaras. Moolavar Rathinagriswarar (Manikkavannar) Sannidhi is located on a hillock. Moolavar has risen towards the east in the form of Shivalinga as a self-portrait. There is a separate junction on the north side at the entrance to the Swami Sannidhi for Lord Saneeswara. Nowhere else can you find a sage-like this. Sampanthaperuman resolved the poison of the merchant at Thirumarukal and while he was staying at that place, a small volunteer came and applied to arise at Thiruchengadangudi.

Sambandar and his servants went to the Thirumarukal temple to worship the Lord and prepared to go to Thiruchengadangudi with Siruthondaru. Lord Thirumarukal blessed the child of Lord Thirumarukal at the Thirumarukal temple by showing Lord Ganapathicharam of Thiruchengattangudi. Sambandar also sang the entry that starts with “Angamum Vedamum Odum Navar” (common to both Sivastalams of Thirumarukal and Thiruchengattangudi). Once upon a time, a king named Kusaketu ruled this region. Then, there was a severe drought without rain. Citizens starved and starved without jobs. The king made “Annadhan” and “Sornadhan” for rain. He performed pujas and recited the Vedas. He worshiped Sivanadiya. He fasted on Somavar, Pradosh, Shivaratri, etc. but it did not rain.

The heartbroken king tried to commit suicide. Seeing that the king had dared to give his life for the people, the Lord showered rain of gems, gems, pearls and paddy around Thirumarukala. Lord Shiva is also known as Rathinagriswarar due to the rain of gems. Come to this place to visit and worship Swami-Ambala, marriage barriers will be removed. They also worship Ganesha who cures diseases and Manivannar who cures debt troubles. On the route of Mayiladuthurai – Thiruvarur, about 25 km from Mayiladuthurai. In the distance is the village of Gangalancheri. From this place, it is about 7 km on the branch road to the left. If you travel long distances, you can reach Vaipur. Thirumarugal is a town located in the Nagai District of Tamil Nadu. Here, the temple is dedicated to Arulmigu Amodalaka Nayaki, Arulmigu Rathinakriswarar and Vanduvar Kuzhali Amman. The highlight of this place is the banana. The saplings of this tree do not grow anywhere except in the temple! Another highlight of the temple is the Suramthirtha Ganesha. It is said that if you pray to him and pay the fine, Saturn will deviate. The place where Lord Sanisvara freed Nalamaharajan from Saturn Tosha, but Nalamaharajan was in a confused state of mind. The theerthams here are also wonderful and if you visit Manikkavannar immersed in the Lakshmi theertham on the day of Varalakshmi fasting, the debt problem will be solved. The doll will give birth to a son by praying in the uniform theertham. It is said that all diseases can be cured by bathing in Chandrapushkarani.
