Lord Mahavishnu were given impressed with the aid of the willpower of the Maharishi and appeared earlier than him on the beginning of the Kali yuga.

Lord Vishnu gave a few advices to Hareetha Maharishi to overcome the problems in Kali yuga. These advices are referred to as “Thiru Mozhi” that means ‘Sacred Words’. And thereafter this place got its name as “Thirumozhi kalam” – kalam way place.

The different legend changed into, that, all through Ramayana, on hearing that Sri Rama were sent to the woodland, Bharada went in search of him to go back him to Ayodhya for doing Pattabishekam for him. On seeing Bharada coming from Ayodhya, Lakshmana were given irritated with him and tried to kill him. Since this changed into a bad thought and sinful act, to get relieved of the sin, Lakshmana served and were given the seva of this sthala deity, Moozhikkalathaan. At that time, it’s miles said Bharadha arose on this sthalam .

They hugged every other and spoke various satisfactory and delightful phrases (mozhi). Mozhi way the language. Since, they transferred stunning languages (mozhi) with each other, this sthala is named as “Thirumozhikkalam” and later modified to “Thirumoozhikkalam”. There is a tremendous clarification approximately this Sthala deity. Generally, if a person does anything bad (or)a sin, he must now not be the individual that can supply justice . If someone does any sin, he should receive that, must be in a role to simply accept the punishment and sense for it.

The person ought to do proper prayasiktham (an action or parihaara accomplished, after a sin is devoted, to fulfill God). Another notion is that on the cease of the Dwapara Yuga, Dwaraka was swallowed with the aid of the ocean and four idols of Sree Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and Shathrughna, which Lord Sree Krishna worshipped, sank into the sea. Some fishermen were given those four idols close to Thriprayar and they gave the idols to Vakkay Kaimal, Naduvazhi.

They have been duly mounted in four temples as directed in the dream. Rama at Thriprayar, Bharata at Irinjalakuda, Lakshmana at Moozhikkulam and Sathrughna at Payammal.

It is thought that worship at most of these four temples on the identical day is mainly meritorious. Hence the name Tirumolikkalam for this place and Tirumolikkalam for Emperuman. Tirumozhikkalam became Tirumozhikkalam over time. As the name itself has been understood for a long time, it has been studied in the Alwar hymns as Tirumulikkalam.
